    37th sitting of the Culture and Education Committee

    At the sitting of the Culture and Education Committee held on 6 July 2006, the Minister of Culture in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Dragan Kojadinovic, informed deputies of the conclusions of the Second Council of South-Eastern European Ministers of Culture, held in Varna, Bulgaria, from 22 to 25 June 2006. The council adopted a Cultural Co-Operation Action Plan covering South-Eastern European countries; it was agreed to build a regional electronic cultural heritage database, to implement a cultural heritage rehabilitation programme, and to harmonise regional legislation with EU standards.

    Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Hungary attend festivities in Backa Topola

    At the invitation of the Backa Topola town council, the Assembly and the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as the Roman Catholic Church, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Hungary, Mr Predrag Markovic and Ms Katalin Szili, attended the celebrations marking the 100th Anniversary of the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Backa Topola, the tallest and largest cathedral in this part of South-Eastern Europe.

    National Assembly Chairman Markovic meets Head of European Commission’s Delegation in Serbia, Ambassador Josep Lloveras

    The Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, today met with the head of the European Commission’s Delegation in Serbia, Ambassador Josep Lloveras, to discuss pressing issues facing Serbia after the adoption of the National Assembly’s decision on obligations of Serbian public authorities and the powers of the Republic of Serbia as the successor to the former State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
