National Assembly Chairman Markovic meets Head of European Commission’s Delegation in Serbia, Ambassador Josep Lloveras
The Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, today met with the head of the European Commission’s Delegation in Serbia, Ambassador Josep Lloveras, to discuss pressing issues facing Serbia after the adoption of the National Assembly’s decision on obligations of Serbian public authorities and the powers of the Republic of Serbia as the successor to the former State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
The Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, today met with the head of the European Commission’s Delegation in Serbia, Ambassador Josep Lloveras, to discuss pressing issues facing Serbia after the adoption of the National Assembly’s decision on obligations of Serbian public authorities and the powers of the Republic of Serbia as the successor to the former State Union of Serbia and Montenegro.
Mr Markovic informed Mr Lloveras of the specific steps being taken by the National Assembly in the process of transferring rights, obligations, and responsibilities from the level of the Parliament of the former State Union, and the assumption and continuation of membership in international bodies.
Mr Markovic also acquainted Mr Lloveras with activities being taken as part of efforts to adopt a new constitution for Serbia. He added that consultations with the Serbian President, Prime Minister, officials and representatives of deputies’ groups at the Assembly, and Vojvodina officials, were being followed up by work on harmonising parts of the text of the proposed constitution by groups of legal experts appointed by parties that had proposed two versions of the constitution to the National Assembly’s Constitutional Issues Sub-Committee.Activities
