Assembly House hosts European Heritage Days
As part of European Heritage Days, taken part in by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia for the third time this year, Assembly House in Nikola Pasic Square saw the opening of an exhibition ‘Old Serbian books’.

Journalists were today treated to a guided visit to Assembly House in Nikola Pasic Square, where they were shown the building and had the chance to learn about its history from curators from the National Assembly Protocol Service.

Assembly House sees presentation of the book Kosovo and Metohia: the past, memory, reality
Assembly House in Nikola Pasic Square was today the venue for the presentation of the book Kosovo and Metohia: the past, memory, reality, by historians Dr Momcilo Pavlovic and Dr Predrag J Markovic.

17th sitting of the Kosovo and Metohia Committee
On 6 September, the Kosovo and Metohia Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a sitting to discuss the Report on the Activities of the Kosovo and Metohia Co-Ordination Centre from 1 January to 30 June 2006. The sitting was chaired by the Committee’s chairman, Dusan Prorokovic.

Foreign Affairs Committee delegation meets British MPs
A delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, headed by the Committee’s chairperson, Gordana Comic, met a group of MPs, journalists, and NGO activists from Britain, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia, whose visit to Belgrade had been organised by the British Council.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia announces the2006/2007 Student Intership ProgrammeThe National Assembly Student Internship Programme will give young professionals the chance to work with deputies, Assembly Committee members, and Assembly Support Service staff, as well as to assist in carrying out research and day-to-day activities.

Chairman Markovic presents regular report on National Assembly activities
Presenting the quarterly report on National Assembly Activities, National Assembly Chairman Predrag Markovic emphasised that the National Assembly had completed a number of activities aimed at transferring powers from the former State Union of Serbia and Montenegro to the Republic of Serbia, based on the decision adopted by the National Assembly on 5 June 2006. Since 23 July, the National Assembly has entered into possession of its Nikola Pasic Square House, over a century since that building was designed; the House is already host to sittings of several Committees and part of the National Assembly Support Service.

At the request of the Government, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, convened the Sixth Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006 for 11 am on Tuesday 12 September.

64th sitting of the Privatisation Committee
The sixty-fourth sitting of the Privatisation Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, held on 29 August 2006, saw the adoption of the Report of the Ministry of the Economy on Activities of the Privatisation Agency for July 2006 and the Privatisation Agency’s Programme of Activities for August 2006.The Privatisation Committee also adopted the Report of the Ministry of the Economy on Activities of the Share Fund of the Republic of Serbia for July 2006, as well as the Report on Activities of the Central Securities Registry, Depository and Clearing for July 2006.Committee members sent the Ministry of the Economy and the Privatisation Agency a recommendation stating that new privatisation procedures should not be undertaken, and privatisation processes in progress should be discontinued, where companies to be privatised are or involve nationalised assets.
