President of French Constitutional Council visits National Assembly
Assembly House was today the venue for a meeting between the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic, and the President of the Constitutional Council of France, Pierre Mazeaud, who is on a visit to the Serbian Constitutional Court.

Seventh Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006
At the request of the Government, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, convened the Seventh Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006 for 12 pm on Monday 25 September 2006.The Government set the following agenda in the request for holding the sitting:1. Bill Amending and Modifying the Budget System Act,2. Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Budget of the Republic of Serbia for 2006, along with its associated Proposals of Decisions Granting Consent to a) Decision Amending and Modifying the 2006 Financial Plan of the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance of Employees, b) Decision Amending and Modifying the 2006 Financial Plan of the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance of Farmers, c) Decision Amending and Modifying the 2006 Financial Plan of the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance of Private Entrepreneurs, d) Decision Amending and Modifying the 2006 Financial Plan of the Republic Health Insurance Agency, and e) Decision Amending and Modifying the 2006 Financial Plan of the National Employment Service.

54th sitting of the Finance Committee
At its sitting held on 25 September 2006, the Finance Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia discussed, in principle and in particular, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Budget System Act and the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Budget of the Republic of Serbia for 2006.The deputies and the Government of the Republic of Serbia had submitted 34 amendments to the Bill Amending and Modifying the Budget System Act; the Finance Committee adopted eight amendments.

Discussion on necessity of strengthening administrative and professional potential for European integrations
The Chairperson of the National Assembly’s European Integrations Committee, Suzana Grubjesic, and the chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Gordana Comic, met today at Assembly House with members of a European Parliament delegation on a two-day working visit to Serbia – Alain Barreau, head of the European Parliament’s Directorate on Relations with National Parliaments,and Estelle Carrelet de Loisy, in charge of relations with Eastern European countries.

Second Seminar on Improving Parliamentary Committee Work
As part of a UNDP programme aimed at capacity building for selected Assembly Committees, the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence organised the second seminar devoted to improving activities of five Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia dealing with the issue of poverty in Serbia, namely the Poverty Reduction Committee, the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues, the Education Committee, the Local Self-Government Committee, and the Agriculture Committee.
