On 25 September, the Agriculture Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia held a sitting, which was chaired by its vice-chairman, Dragan Rafailovic. The sitting saw an exchange of opinions on the implementation of a UNDP-funded project to improve activities of five Assembly committees dealing with the issue of reducing poverty in Serbia.

The Committee unanimously supported the initiative to organise a ‘public hearing’ on the Agriculture Bill, i.e. to hold a roundtable on the Bill with the aim of presenting the proposed solutions as well as possible.

It was agreed that a UNDP official should present an expert assessment of the Bill, based on EU and regional experiences, at the roundtable; the deputies would have the chance to put questions to the Bill’s proposer.

Members of the Agriculture Committee, interested deputies, Ministry officials, and representatives of international organisations are to attend the roundtable.
