National Assembly Chairman Markovic meets Doris Pack

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, today met a European Parliament delegation headed by Doris Pack, head of the EP’s Delegation for South Eastern Europe.



The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, today met a European Parliament delegation headed by Doris Pack, head of the EP’s Delegation for South Eastern Europe.

Mr Markovic informed Ms Pack of the results achieved by the National Assembly, its role in assuming responsibilities from bodies of the former State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as of its future activities aimed at continuing co-operation between the National Assembly and the European Parliament. Mr Markovic emphasised that important issues for Serbia were stability, solidarity, standards, and preserving self-respect. He underlined that Serbia’s priority at this time was to continue suspended accession negotiations with the EU and conclude negotiations on the status of Kosovo and Metohia.

Ms Pack expressed her desire for co-operation between the two parliaments to continue, both at the level of parliamentary heads and at the committee level, to further the cause of Serbia’s integration into the EU.

The meeting between Mr Markovic and Ms Pack was attended by Suzana Grubjesic, chairperson of the European Integrations Committee, and Committee member Zoran Suboticki.
