NARS Speaker Receives International European Movement President and Gives Opening Address at Public Debate on EU Enlargement Process
Today at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic received the President of the European Movement Pat Cox who is taking part in the meeting of the International European Movement Members Council and public debate on the EU Enlargement Process, on 27 and 28 May 2011 in Belgrade.

Public Discussion Held on Parliamentary Dialogue on Children
The National Assembly’s Children’s Rights Working Group and the Association for Development of Children and Youth – Open Club organised a public discussion today on Parliamentary Dialogue on Children at the National Assembly building.
The public discussion was opened by Nikola Novakovic, member of the Children’s Rights Working Group and National Assembly Deputy Speaker, while Ferenc Simon, Head of Operations of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, Tanja Fajon, European Parliament Member and Lesley Miller, Deputy Director of the UNICEF Office in Serbia, also gave an opening address. -

Inter-Ethnic Relations Committee Members Talk to St. Gallen Town Parliament Social Democratic Party Councilmen
A delegation of councilmen of the Social Democratic Party of the St. Gallen Town Parliament, Switzerland, is in a four-day visit to the City of Belgrade. As part of its visit, the delegation met with the Chairman and members of the Committee on Inter-Ethnic Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

Seventy-Seventh Sitting of the Justice and Administration Committee
At the sitting held on 26 May, the Justice and Administration Committee considered and accepted the High Judicial Council 2010 Activity Report, Public Prosecutor’s Offices Activity Report on suppressing criminality and protection of constitutionality and legitimacy in 2010, as well as the Ombudsman’s 2010 Regular Annual Report. In addition the Committee reviewed and accepted the Ministry of Justice Activity Information for the period 1 January - 31 March 2011.

At the sitting held on 26 May, the members of the Youth and Sports Committee reviewed the opinions and suggestions of the participants in the public debate on the Draft Law on Youth on which they were briefed by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport.

Seminar Held on Role of Parliament in Gender Responsive Budgeting
As part of its thirty-second sitting the Gender Equality Committee organised a seminar at the National Assembly House on the Role of the Parliament in Gender Responsive Budgeting. Snezana Lakicevic, President of the Gender Equality Council and State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Daiana Falloni of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Asya Varbanova of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women gave the opening addresses.

Czech Senate Delegation Visits National Assembly
A delegation of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights and Petitions of the Senate of the Czech Republic, headed by Committee Chairman Jaromir Jermar visited the National Assembly on 24 May. At the National Assembly House, the Czech delegation met separately with the members of several National Assembly committees.
