National Assembly Speaker Receives Kuwaiti Ambassador to Serbia

Today, at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly Speaker, Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic, received the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Fawzi Abdulaziz Ahmad Al-Jasem, in a farewell visit.

Speaker Stefanovic thanked Ambassador Al-Jasem for the true friendship and dedication which have, according to him, led to a significant increase in activity between Serbia and Kuwait in the last year. Our relations are improving, opined Speaker Stefanovic, adding that the claim is best proved by the activities of the Kuwait Investment Fund and that Serbia is evidently becoming more attractive for investment primarily into agriculture, energy and infrastructure. By ensuring safe investment, continued Stefanovic, Serbia shows that it has come a step closer to the European Union.

The National Assembly Speaker concluded that the Ambassador’s knowledge of Serbia has led to an improvement in the two countries’ bilateral cooperation, which has reached the highest levels in the past 20 years.

The officials agreed that the cooperation between Serbia and the Gulf States has been significantly improved and that opening up new communication opportunities, especially related to air transport, would boost cooperation and contacts.

Speaker Stefanovic personally thanked the Kuwaiti Ambassador for everything he had done, saying that he expected his successor in Serbia to take a similar approach.

Ambassador Al-Jasem declared the cooperation between Kuwait and Serbia excellent, adding that the two countries had started many projects together. The Ambassador of Kuwait stressed that he is Serbia’s friend and will remain one even after he leaves his current post. Al-Jasem informed the National Assembly Speaker about the ongoing projects, among them the completion of one stage of the work on the Prokop railway junction and the prospects for finalizing the agreement on Kuwait’s investment into irrigation.
