On the occasion of the meeting between the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic and Vojvodina Assembly Speaker Istvan Pasztor.

Vojvodina Assembly Speaker Istvan Pasztor congratulated National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic on being elected to the post and wished him success. He expressed his firm belief that the election of Nebojsa Stefanovic for National Assembly Speaker would contribute to the development of the already exceptionally good relations between the two assemblies.
Mr. Pasztor said that he appreciated the National Assembly Speaker’s approach and that he supported the realisation of Mr. Nebojsa Stefanovic’s ambitions conducive to the development of the parliament and democracy. He agreed with Stefanovic that the work of the Assembly’s committees is much more important than it is widely recognized as the committees include professionals focused on the area of their respective scopes, which contributes to a more efficient functioning of the Parliament.
The Vojvodina Assembly Speaker stressed two topics as very important: the 7% of the republic budget guaranteed to Vojvodina by the Constitution, as well the exercise of Vojvodina Parliament’s right to submit amendments to the laws debated by the National Assembly.
National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic stressed that the Parliament would guarantee Vojvodina’s autonomy and that anyone endangering it would be unacceptable. He said that Vojvodina and its potential are important, as is the economy, the positive results of which contribute not only to the republic budget, but to the entire Serbia. Stefanovic stressed that the economic aspect of the cooperation between the two assemblies reflects in their joint efforts on attracting capital to open up new jobs and contribute to the development of the Republic of Serbia. As regards the 7% of the budget allocated to Vojvodina, Nebojsa Stefanovic said that he would request a rebalance proposal so that he could become better acquainted with it. The National Assembly Speaker endorsed Mr. Pasztor’s good intention to contribute to employ their expertise and experience toward the development of the Parliament’s work by submitting amendments to proposed bills.
