National Assembly Speaker Meets with President of Czech Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jan Hamacek, in official visit to the Republic of Serbia. The officials stressed the good and friendly relations between the two states.

Gojkovic and Hamacek agreed that the two countries enjoy an uninterrupted dialogue and are prepared to advance relations on all levels, saying they were ready to sign an inter-parliamentary agreement to strengthen parliamentary relations and deepen cooperation between the respective parliamentary committees, especially in the sphere of Euro-integration since the experience and support of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic would be very important for the National Assembly.

Gojkovic thanked the Czech Republic for the support it gives Serbia on the path to the European Union, and its “open door” policy, hoping that the Czech Republic would continue to support Serbia’s Euro-integration and urge for the opening of new negotiation chapters, for which Serbia is ready, by the end of the year.

Hamacek said that the political relations between Serbia and the Czech Republic are excellent, one could say quite possibly they have never been better. Hamacek is firmly believes that the European Union should continue its enlargement toward the Western Balkans where Serbia is the key state.

Hamacek, who will in the course of his visit to Serbia meet with members of the Czech national minority, thanked Serbia for the conditions it provides to the Czech people and its extremely constructive role in the migrant crisis.
