Gojkovic in Budapest on Security Dimension of Cooperation in Western Balkans

At the 8th Conference of Speakers of Parliament of the Countries of the Western Balkans in Budapest, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic spoke at the panel on “Western Balkans Security Dimension – Cooperation: Contribution to Stability in Europe” stressing that Serbia would continue to make a principled and concrete contribution to regional stability, peace and security.

Gojkovic said that a credible EU enlargement policy based on clear criteria is a strategic investment into the security and prosperity of Europe as a whole in confronting all security challenges in the interest of lasting peace and stability.

The National Assembly Speaker said that the challenges facing Europe and the world today transcend states, regions and continents, making it imperative to exchange information at all levels, foster cooperation and assist the efforts to come up with proper responses to them.

Gojkovic stressed that Serbia is firmly committed to find the right answers through cooperation with its neighbours and the wider international community to issues such as terrorism, organized crime, cyber threats, illegal migration, human trafficking and other challenges.

“In facing these challenges Serbia is developing responsible cooperation and solidarity at the regional, European and global level with all of its friends and partners, taking and sharing the responsibility for the achievement of a common goal. Serbia’s policy of military neutrality confirms its commitment to this”, said Gojkovic.
