Gojkovic at Celebration in Honour of Vinca Institute 70th Anniversary

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic attended the celebration in honour of the 70th anniversary of the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Science at the National Assembly House today.


In her address Gojkovic said that any modernisation of a society must be grounded in education and science and it is our task to set the groundwork for the development of our whole society and the state based on knowledge without which Serbia would not be able to develop dynamically and keep pace with the most developed countries in the world.

“Getting young educated people, especially scientists, to stay is one of the biggest challenges which requires the state’s attention because creating a prosperous space for young educated people to live and work is our priority task”, said the National Assembly Speaker.

Gojkovic stressed it is important to send a clear message that investment into education and science is the best investment, one essential for Serbia’s development.

The National Assembly Speaker said that from the vision of Professor Pavle Savic and the first physics and chemistry research, to date, the Vinca Institute has been and remained Serbia’s most important scientific institution, one whose scientific work and results make it the pride of Serbia.

Gojkovic said that there is many a reason to be proud of the scientists of Vinca who strive to improve our lives with their work and discoveries adding that she had the opportunity to visit the Institute and see for herself that the institution is still a modern house of knowledge that moves in step the world.
