Gojkovic and Parliament Speakers of EU Member States
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic is taking part in the Conference of Parliament Speakers of EU Member States in Bratislava, attended by 30 representatives of the parliaments of EU member states, candidate states and the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani.
Speaking with the heads of EU parliaments, Gojkovic stated that Serbia, whose chief strategic goal is EU membership, has so far opened eight chapters and expects the talks to follow the same dynamics, stressing that the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, through the harmonization of the legislation, is giving its full support to the Euro-integration process.
Gojkovic said that the opening of the negotiation chapters sends a strong message, not only to the citizens of Serbia but to the whole region, that despite the challenges faced by the EU, Euro-integration goes on, stressing that the European Union cannot be whole without the Western Balkans.
At the margins of the Conference Gojkovic has met with the heads of the Spanish and Slovenian parliament Ana Pastor and Milan Brglez, as well as the heads of the parliament of Montenegro, Sweden, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
