Gojkovic Receives Lebanese UNESCO Director-General Candidate
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic received the Lebanese candidate for UNESCO Director-General El-Khoury Lacoeuilhe, who presented the programme and priorities of her campaign “For Our Children”.
Gojkovic spoke in favour of strengthening the inherent values of UNESCO and asked the Lebanese candidate questions about her priorities to that end, with a special focus on education, in view of the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
As the Lebanese candidate is in favour of de-politicizing UNESCO, Gojkovic was interested in her stance on the possible future attempts of the Pristina authorities and those who endorse them to once again put the self-declared state’s bid to join UNESCO on the agenda.
Gojkovic said how important UNESCO is for Serbia for the protection of Serbian cultural heritage, especially in Kosovo-Metohija.
