Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman and Ambassador of DPR Korea Discuss Promoting Interparliamentary Cooperation
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic met today, at the National Assembly House, with the non-residential Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea accredited from Bucharest H.E. Ri Pyong Du, to discuss improving interparliamentary cooperation.
H.E. Ri Pyong Du said that this year marks 70 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and DPR Korea and opined that the establishment of friendship groups in both parliaments would prove mutually beneficial, which Obradovic agreed with.
Obradovic thanked DPR Korea for its principled stance on the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija adding that respecting any country’s territorial integrity, Serbia included, and not recognizing the so-called independence of Kosovo actually means respecting international law, which is the prerequisite for peace and security in the world.
At the end of the meeting, the officials concluded that reciprocal parliamentary visits would contribute to the improvement of overall bilateral cooperation.
