National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Catherine Ashton

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the former European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Catherine Ashton.

Ashton congratulated the Parliament Speaker on her new post, saying that she is now in a position from which she can do and change many things. She also stressed that it is her pleasure to be visiting Serbia again after several years, adding that our country’s economic progress is noticeable.

Ashton had mediated the signing of the Brussels Agreement in 2013 and Brnabic pointed out that Pristina, more than ten years later, has still not fulfilled its obligation, namely the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

As Ashton is coming from the UK, both expressed hope that the two countries will strengthen parliamentary cooperation in the coming years.

The meeting was also attended by the UK Ambassador to Serbia Edward Ferguson.
