The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Pakistan Aleksandar Mirkovic met today with the Pakistani Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Ali Haider Altaf. Emphasising the friendly relations between the two countries, Mirkovic pointed out that improving cooperation in the field of culture, sports and education is a sure way to further connect the two nations.
The Pakistani Ambassador emphasised the importance of opening a Serbian embassy in Pakistan, noting that the country is one of the five most populous countries in the world, which especially underscores the importance of establishing that type of contact which would primarily be reflected in the field of education and student exchange.
The Ambassador also spoke about the planned visit of a Pakistani Parliamentary delegation to Serbia, in March of next year, emphasising its importance as an excellent opportunity for the parliamentarians to exchange opinions on all important global issues and to improve interparliamentary cooperation. The importance of ties and cooperation between the diplomatic academies of Serbia and Pakistan was particularly emphasised.
The Head of the PFG with Pakistan Aleksandar Mirkovic thanked Pakistan for supporting Serbia's candidacy for the organisation of the EXPO 2027 exhibition, which, he pointed out, is the pride of the whole of Serbia and was realised at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.
Mirkovic emphasised that Pakistan will always have a sincere friend in Serbia.
"Serbia is following the European path, but it also wants to cooperate with everyone. We look forward to future cooperation, what we do today, we leave as a pledge for the generations to come," Mirkovic concluded.
