At the sitting held on 28 July, the Privatisation Committee considered the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Reports on the Activities of the Privatisation Agency for June 2010 and on the Activities of the Republic of Serbia Share Fund for June 2010. In addition, the Committee also considered the Privatisation Agency’s Work Programme for July 2010. The sitting was chaired by Milan Nikolic, Committee Chairman.

By a majority of votes, the Committee members accepted the Reports and the Privatisation Agency’s Work Programme for July of this year.

At the sitting the Committee also considered the Privatisation Agency’s Information on the monitoring of compliance with contractual obligations by the buyer of the capital of Privatisation Subject “Prosveta” AD from Belgrade. Agency Director Vladislav Cvetkovic stressed that the buyer of “Prosveta” publishing company had submitted ample documentation to the Agency by the scheduled deadline of 22 July which should prove that he had fulfilled the demands set by the Agency, primarily – to pay the employees the back payments, remove the mortgages from the “Prosveta” facilities and abide by all the other obligations from the sale contract.

Taking part in the debate, the representatives of the ”Prosveta” union pointed out that the buyer had not fulfilled the assumed obligations and had not paid the employees’ contributions due to which they requested to break the Contract on the sale of capital with the owner – “Media P” company. The co-owner and Director of “Prosveta” Dejan Pantovic claimed that most of the contractual obligations have been met and that, from the moment of takeover in June 2009, 1.5 million EUR have been invested into the publishing house to renew authors’ contracts, increase turnover and pay out the employee’s earnings. He also said that the employees’ strike had done great damage to “Prosveta”.

The Committee members requested that, by the next sitting, the Privatisation Agency forward a decision proposal regarding the privatisation of “Prosveta” so that it can then be decided what would happen to the publishing house.
