Twenty-Sixth Sitting of the Legislative Committee
At the sitting held on 18 October, the Legislative Committee determined as legally possible all amendments (six in total) submitted to the Proposal of the Declaration of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on the Censure of the blockade and isolation of the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America.

The Committee went on to exchange opinions about the legal arrangement of the Speaker of the National Assembly’s duty in the transitional period of aligning the regulations with the new Constitution, to call an election for the Mayor of the City of Belgrade after the death of the erstwhile mayor.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Oliver Dulic, took part in the Committee’s activities, stressing that he will follow the Constitution of Serbia and the Constitutional Law to the letter and call an election in accordance with these documents, that is by December 31 of this year.
Some of the Members of Parliament, those who opened this question, deemed that, according to the Law on Local Self-Government, the Speaker of the National Assembly is duty bound to call elections for mayor within the legally predicted time period, while opinions have been voiced that he should act in accordance with the provisions of the Constitutional Law and call an election in the predicted periods i.e. when all the conditions are met.
The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Vlatko Ratkovic.
