Twenty-Fourth Sitting the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues

On 29 March, the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its twenty-fourth sitting, chaired by Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman.



On 29 March, the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its twenty-fourth sitting, chaired by Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman. The sitting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, Ministry of Interior, UNHCR, as well as refugee associations.

The Committee members considered the Bill amending and modifying the Refugee Law in principle. Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees, said that the Bill underwent a broad public discussion in order to improve the refugees’ status and rights. He stressed that the amendments and modifications to the existing 1992 law should also enable a speedier resolution of the refugees’ housing issues. The Committee members accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Refugee Law in principle.

The Committee considered and accepted the Bill on Central Registry for Mandatory Social Security in principle, with reserved opinions of two Committee members.

The Committee members went on to consider and accept the Bill on the Confirmation of the International Labour Organisation Convention 183 on maternity protection and Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Turkey on social security, in principle.
