Twenty-Eighth Sitting of the Committee on Health and the Family

The Committee on Health and the Family held its twenty-eighth sitting on 9 March 2010. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Dr Paja Momcilov and attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Perisa Simonovic, Assistant Minister of Health Zorica Pavlovic, Chairman of the Serbian Health Council Prof. Dr Dragan Delic, as well as the members of the Serbian Health Council.



The Committee on Health and the Family held its twenty-eighth sitting on 9 March 2010. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Dr Paja Momcilov and attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Perisa Simonovic, Assistant Minister of Health Zorica Pavlovic, Chairman of the Serbian Health Council Prof. Dr Dragan Delic, as well as the members of the Serbian Health Council.

The Committee members considered the information on the Serbian Health Council’s (ZSS) work and activities.

Presenting the Council’s work, the ZSS Chairman pointed out a problem with the enrolment policy of medical faculties and schools. He also stated that the Serbian Health Council members believe that the Virology, Vaccine and Serum Institute Torlak must not be sold, and that a strategic partner should be sought out. Delic added that a Task Group on climate spa centres was formed to come up with a concrete view on the development of such centres by the end of 2010.

Following the discussion, the Committee on Health and the Family adopted the following conclusion:

1. The Committee endorses the Serbian Health Council’s activities and endeavours so far.

2. The Committee considers it necessary to ensure better conditions regarding finances, staff and facilities for the Serbian Health Council’s future work

3. The Committee expects the Serbian Health Council to overview the fundamental issues considering the health of Serbian citizens and by its initiative and suggestions contribute to the adoption of the heath policy.

4. The Committee finds it necessary to continue to cooperate when debating health issues.

The Committee members went on to consider the petitions citizens and associations had sent to the Committee on Health and the Family.
