Twentieth Sitting of the Youth and Sports Committee

The Youth and Sports Committee held its twentieth sitting on 7 July 2010. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Milan Vuckovic, and attended by the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sport for Project Management Zagorka Petrovic Zlatanovic and associates.

The representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport presented the realised and future plans on the improvement of the sports infrastructure, as well as the realised and planned activities regarding the construction of new sports halls and school gyms, courts and pitches and renovation of the existing facilities in the Republic of Serbia.

They presented the projects completed in 2009, worth 503,814,572.32 RSD. The projects covered the rehabilitation of sports gyms in elementary and high schools, stadium lighting, adaptations and rehabilitation of sports courts, pitches and halls, construction of new “balloon” halls, changing rooms and stands, as well as the construction of the Cair swimming pool complex in Nis. They also presented a list of projects for 2010 with the planned investment of 1,240,203,417.07 RSD. This year’s plan covers the construction of mini pitches, evenly spread all over the Republic of Serbia from Subotica, Becej, Belgrade, Valjevo, Kragujevac, Svilajnac to Pirot, Vranje, Lebane, a total of 52 mini pitches on the whole territory of Serbia. This year, the Ministry of Youth and Sport will also continue the adaptation of sports courts and pitches, gyms, lighting of existing facilities, with a particular focus on the adaptation of sports facilities access for disabled and special needs persons. The construction of “Football House” sports centre in Stara Pazova is underway with the financial support of FIFA and UEFA.

The Committee members went on to unanimously decide to accept the invitation to the Second Inter-Parliamentary European Parliamentarian Games on the behalf of the NARS deputies, to be held from 16 to 20 September 2010 in Moscow.
