At the sitting on 18 June, the members of the Youth and Sports Committee were briefed on the organization of the 2009 Universiade, to be held in Belgrade from 1 to 12 July 2009.

The sitting was held in the University Village administrative building in New Belgrade, and on the occasion the Committee members visited the University Village and learned about the conditions under which the participants of the event will compete. 2009 Universiade representatives, Director General Zoran Jovanovic, Executive Director Dejan Susevic, Financial Director Ljiljana Djokic, as well as Assistant Minister of Youth and Sport Vojislav Tabacki and Head of the Sport Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sport Dragan Atanasov talked to the Committee members. The representatives of Company UB2009 briefed the Committee members on the final work and preparations in the University Village, thanking the Committee for their support in preparing the event. It is the Committee members’ estimate that the organization of the event exceeded expectations and will be a good advertisement for Serbia. Also, after the event is completed, the Committee will dedicate one of its sittings to debating the financial aspect of the organization of 2009 Universiade.
