At the sitting held on 13 July, the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues considered the Bill amending the Labour Law, in principle. The sitting was chaired by Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman

Elaborating the amendment of the Bill, Assistant Minister of Labour and Social Policy Radmila Bukumiric-Katic said that it introduces the option of sending employees to paid leave due to temporary suspension of business or decrease of business volume, for a period of more than 45 working days in a year, with the previous consent of the minister in charge of labour. Thus, under the negative effects of the global economic crisis, the employers will be able to decrease the operational costs during longer periods of business suspension or decreased business volume, without having to resort to firing their employees.

The Committee members unanimously accepted the Bill amending the Labour Law, in principle....
