Thirty-Sixth Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues

The Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its thirty-sixth sitting on 22 March, chaired by Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic.



The Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its thirty-sixth sitting on 22 March, chaired by Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic. The sitting was attended by State Secretary Ljiljana Lucic, Assistant Minister Suzana Paunovic and department head at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Nevena Rajkovic.

The Committee members considered the Bill on Social Welfare, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, on the particulars.

The deputies submitted a total of 100 amendments to the Bill on Social Welfare. The Government of the Republic of Serbia accepted 23 of the amendments, out of which the Committee members accepted 22. The amendment accepted by the Government was taken over by the Committee into its own amendment, and the Committee also accepted one amendment which the Government did not accept. The Committee also submitted 6 of its own amendments to the Bill. Among the amendments the Committee submitted in agreement with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy the most important one establishes the right to special compensation in the form of a life-long monthly payment equal to the lowest pension within the employee insurance, to an unemployed parent taking care of a child with grave health difficulties.

Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic was designated the Committee’s rapporteur to the National Assembly sitting.
