Thirty-Second Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues

The Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its thirty-second sitting on 23 November under the chairmanship of Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman.



The Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues held its thirty-second sitting on 23 November under the chairmanship of Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman. The sitting was attended by Assistant Minister of Labour and Social Policy Zoran Milosevic.

The Committee members conducted a unified discussion on the Bill on the Confirmation of the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Cyprus, Bill on the Confirmation of the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Kingdom of Norway and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Social Security Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation.

The Committee unanimously endorsed the abovementioned Bills.

The Committee went on to unanimously decide to hold a public hearing on Promises fulfilled – Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in practice to commemorate 3 December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The public hearing will be held with the support of the UN Office in Serbia on Thursday 2 December 2010, at the Small Hall of the National Assembly House.

The Committee considered the initiative of Civic Association Vera from Loznica and Banja Koviljaca and concluded to approach the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy with the request that, by amending the relevant legal regulations, it find a solution for the material and financial support for parents with children with developmental problems so that the children may remain in their natural surroundings which would comply with the goals of decentralizing social protection laid out in the Strategy for Social Protection Development, as well as the specific goal of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Protection of children against Violence which see the family as the best framework for the protection of sensitive groups.
