The Committee on Health and the Family held its thirty-second sitting on 15 July 2010. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Dr Paja Momcilov.

The Committee members considered the petitions forwarded to the Committee on Health and the Family by citizens and organisations.

The sitting was attended by Assistant Minister of Health Dr Ivana Misic, Dr Nebojsa Jokic from the Ministry of Health, Dr Dusan Mileusnic from the Belgrade Institute of Oncology and member of the Commission for the implementation of extraordinary external quality control of the expert work at the Vojvodina Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica and Zorica Markovic of the Serbian Association of Health Care Beneficiaries – Club Health.

Under articles 60 and 79 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, having considered the Report on the extraordinary external quality control of the expert work at the Vojvodina Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica submitted by the Ministry of Health and the memo of Doc. Dr Bojana Bokorov, at the sitting held on 15 July 2010 the Committee on Health and the Family adopted the following:

CONCLUSIONS

1. The Committee believes that the Report on the extraordinary external quality control of the expert work at the Vojvodina Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica is incomplete as item 5 of the Conclusions states that the Commission should also conduct an interview with Doc. Dr Bojana Bokorov.

2. The Committee requests that the Ministry of Health make sure that the Commission amend the Report on the extraordinary external quality control of the expert work at the Vojvodina Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica and submit it to the Committee on Health and the Family.

In addition, having considered the proposals as regards the radiotherapy issues at the Vojvodina Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica, the Committee on Health and the Family adopted the following:

CONCLUSIONS

1. The Committee on Health and the Family believes that reports in the printed and electronic media have caused disturbing public alarm as regards two affairs: the radiotherapy affair at the Vojvodina Institute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica and the affair concerning the cytostatic treatment known as the Crab, at the Serbian Institute of Oncology in Belgrade.

2. In order to timely and truthfully inform the public, we applaud the well-meaning efforts to clarify these problems at roundtables and in the printed and electronic media.

3. Appreciating the importance of the topic concerning oncology patients’ treatment problems, the Committee on Health and the Family shall hold a sitting on 22 July 2010 to discuss these patients’ heath care issues.

The Committee went on to consider the Report on the implemented control of the legality of the work and documents of the Serbian Dentists’ Chamber and Serbian Medical Chamber, and under articles 60 and 79 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the following:

CONCLUSIONS

1. The Committee on Health and the Family requests that the Ministry of Health reply which of the measures listed in the report have been implemented by the Serbian Dentists’ Chamber and Serbian Medical Chamber and what will the Ministry of Health do in the upcoming period regarding these problems.

2. The Committee believes that the problems of the Serbian Dentists’ Chamber and Serbian Medical Chamber have lasted unacceptably long and that the Ministry of Health should have resolved these problems in line with article 56 of the Law on State Administration
