Thirty-Eighth Sitting of the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues

At the sitting held on 14 June, at the proposal of Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic, the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues adopted a Decision on the formation of a Subcommittee on the Issues of War Veterans and Victims of the Wars from 1991-1999.


Six members from the ranks of Committee members or deputy members were elected into the Subcommittee viz.: Miroslav Martic, Subcommittee Chairman, Dragisa Djokovic, Stojanka Petkovic, Aleksandar Pejcic and Sasa Dujovic, while the Serbian Radical Party Parliamentary Group is to appoint its representative at a later date.

In the continuation the Committee members were addressed by Dragoslav Ljubicic, representative of the Union of shift workers of Nikola Tesla thermo-electric power plant requesting an authentic interpretation of article 60 of the Labour Law relating to shift work supplements for the workers at the thermo-electric power plant in view of the existing unequal treatment of shift work. At the proposal of the Committee Chairman, the Committee members will forward a request for an authentic interpretation of article 60 of the Labour Law to the competent, Legislative Committee.

On the behalf of the Petitions and Proposals Working Group, Committee Deputy Chairperson Zlata Djeric briefed the other Committee members on the received civic petitions and proposals, as well as the further procedures toward their resolution or forwarding to competent services and bodies.

The Committee members went on to adopt, at the proposal of the Coalition of Refugee Associations in the Republic of Serbia, a Decision to hold a public hearing at the National Assembly House on World Refugee Day, 20 June 2011, with the topic “Exercising the rights of refugees and exiled persons in the countries of origin”.
