At the sitting held on 15 October, the Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues considered the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Employment and Insurance in Case of Unemployment, in principle.

Tatjana Prijic, representative of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, said that the National Employment Service was being relocated to Kragujevac since that town is in the centre of all problems when it comes to unemployment. She pointed out that the unemployment rate decreases from north to the south, and Kragujevac is in the centre so that all the problems can be addressed more easily from it. She cited the need to decentralise state administration as another reason.

The Committee members asked why the National Employment Service was not being relocated to another town with a higher unemployment rate.

In line with article 155, paragraph 2 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, the Committee did not adopt a decision to propose that the National Assembly either accept or not accept the Bill considering that out of the 12 deputies present, six voted for, five against and one deputy abstained.

The sitting was chaired by Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman.
