Third Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee

At the sitting held on 23 January, the members of the Environmental Protection Committee considered the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Activity Information for the period August - October 2016.


Stana Bozovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, presented the Activity Information to the Committee members. Speaking of normative affairs, Bozovic said that the Ministry adopted the Ordinance amending the ordinance on limit values of pollutants in surface and underground waters and sediment and related deadlines. It also forwarded into procedure for an opinion four draft laws on international environmental conventions. It worked on the drafting of six draft laws, one strategy and one action plan, and as regards international cooperation it prepared a Platform Proposal accompanied with a Governmental conclusion for the Serbian Government’s participation in the 9th meeting of the Conference of parties to the Convention on Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents. The Ministry also filled in a questionnaire on the synergy of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions.

Speaking of realization of projects, competitions and contracts, the Ministry had commenced projects with numerous organizations such as the IPA Twinning Project, UNDP and many other NGOs, and of the 20 million RSD allocated for NGO projects, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection had closed the competition procedure, adopted the Decision on the selection of projects and awarded funds to 50 of them amounting to 19,909,420 RSD in subsidies. Also, 75% of the work on the rehabilitation, closure and re-cultivation of the waste-rock dumps from Zajaca lead smelter has been realized.

Concerning inspections in the reporting period, the Environmental Protection Sector had conducted 1868 inspections and issued 209 ordinances. 47 misdemeanour charges had been filed in said period and 13 economic offenses had been reported.

The Committee proceeded to consider the Request for an opinion on the application of the provisions of the Waste Management Law submitted by FCC Eko d.o.o.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Branislav Blazic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Ivana Nikolic, Radoslav Cokic, Sonja Vlahovic, Dragan Jovanovic, MA Goran Cabradi, Borka Grubor, Prof. Dr Snezana Bogosavljevic Boskovic, Ivana Stojiljkovic, Borisav Kovacevic, Jasmina Karanac, Vladimir Petkovic, Sonja Pavlovic, Ivan Karic and Gordana Comic, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the Green Chair civil society mechanism.
