The Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Oliver Dulic, addressed the citizens of Serbia with the following greeting:

“Esteemed citizens,

I wish you a happy New Year and upcoming holidays. The following year will be a year of big decisions for our country.

Although all out attention is directed to these big decisions, we should at no time forget that the big decisions are being made for the sake of common people, our neighbours and fellow citizens. That is why today, my New Year’s wishes are mostly for those who have not had a lot of joy this year – those whose freedom of movement was limited, who have no job or are, because of chronic poverty, deprived of the small joys of normal life which the rest of us sometimes do not appreciate enough.

Since the upcoming holidays are a time of giving, I call upon all the citizens to do the best they can to make it possible for our poor fellow citizens to feel the joy of the holidays.

I wish you a lot of happiness, health and joy in the New Year”.
