The Bill was elaborated by Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Dr Srdjan Verbic.

The Minister stressed that, in addition to the harmonisation with European legislation, the Bill is supposed to improve the accreditation process, issuance and revocation of work permits to higher education institutions, to eliminate the problems in the recognition procedure for foreign diplomas, improve the transparency of higher education institutions and establish a unified information system.

After the ensuing debate in which the Committee members and MPs voiced their opinions and views on the Bill, the Committee accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education, in principle, by a majority vote.
