Seventh Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 26 April 2021, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee reviewed the Bill on the Confirmation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Russian Federation in the Field of Plant Quarantine and Plant Protection, submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by Jelena Blagojevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, who said that as the recently intensified cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia in the phytosanitary field, due to the increase in exports of consignments subject to mandatory phytosanitary inspection and increased controls introduced by Russia to prevent the import from countries under sanctions, was accompanied by the need to update the existing Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the field of quarantine and plant protection signed in 1996.

The Agreement provides the basis for further and more detailed regulation of all phytosanitary issues, both at the level of negotiations and at the level of professional services of both countries, which will certainly contribute to increasing the volume of trade in plant products.

The Committee members unanimously proposed that the National Assembly accept the Bill on the Confirmation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Russian Federation in the Field of Plant Quarantine and Plant Protection.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Momir Stojilkovic Jelisaveta Veljkovic, Olja Petrovic, Velibor Stanojlovic, Goran Kovacevic, Nenad Filipovic, Milija Miletic, Stanislava Janosevic, Prof. Dr Ljubinko Rakonjac, Arpad Fremond, Nikola Kozovic, Sonja Todorovic, Dijana Radovic, Veroljub Matic, Tijana Davidovac and Zarko Bogatinovic.
