National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union headed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Snezana Paunovic continues its participation the 147th IPU Assembly in Luanda, Angola, from 23 to 27 October 2023.

At the meeting of the Governing Council, the participants discussed the most important organisational issues, while the Assembly discussed the topic "Parliamentary action for peace, justice and strong institutions". The first segment of the debate was reserved for the speeches of the heads of parliament. In the course of the day, there were also meetings of the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security, Standing Committee for Democracy and Human Rights, Committee to Promote Respect for Humanitarian Law, Advisory Group on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism, as well as the Forum of Young Parliamentarians.

In the course of the day, the National Assembly delegation had bilateral meetings and contacts with spakers and deputy speakers of parliaments from the African continent, primarily with Namibia, Egypt, Tanzania, Somalia and Senegal. At the meetings, they presented our activities regarding the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity and positions related to current topics that dominate the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Angola.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Snezana Paunovic emphasised how important the support of friendly countries is to our efforts to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. She pointed to the difficult situation and conditions in which our people live in Kosovo-Metohija. She recalled the traditionally good relations that our country has with African countries, especially emphasising Serbia's readiness and openness for further improvement of parliamentary, economic, trade and cultural cooperation with African countries. The officials accepted our delegation’s initiatives and announced an intensification of cooperation in the coming period with a view of improving the traditionally good relations.
