In the course of the visit to the Office of the Council for National Security and Classified Information Protection, the members of the Security Services Control Committee learned about the scope, tasks, organisation and manner of operation of the Council Office, the legal framework and procedures applied by the Council Office, its tasks related to the implementation of the Council’s guidelines and conclusions, administrative and technical support to the Coordination Bureau, and the implementation of the Data Confidentiality Law and European Union standards in the field.

The Committee noted that the conditions have been met to launch an initiative to amend the laws regulating the security sector so as to modify the functional and organisational structure of security institutions, improve coordination and efficiency.

Speaking to the Council Office Director and staff, the Committee members stressed that the adoption of a Law on Information Safety and drafting a Cyber Security Strategy are of paramount importance for national security.
