Second Sitting of the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija
At a sitting closed to the public, held on 30 September 2024, the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, considered the information on the current security situation in Kosovo-Metohija from the aspect of endangerment of the security of the Serbian people, submitted by: the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Defence, Security and Information Agency, Office for Kosovo-Metohija and the Office for the Coordination of Affairs in the Process of Negotiation with the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Pristina.
- The Committee assessed that the current security situation in the area of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija is extremely unstable and tense, especially in the context of the position of the Serbian and other non-Albanian population. This situation is the consequence of the continuous escalating moves of Pristina and Albin Kurti, who intentionally perpetrate institutional, physical and psychological violence on a daily basis, destabilising the situation and creating impossible conditions for the life of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.
- The Committee calls on the international community, especially those countries that have a definite influence on the PISG, to energetically and urgently stop Pristina in the continuous implementation of systematic, comprehensive and widespread violence against the Serbian people, that the PISG implement without delay the provisions of the signed agreements within the Dialogue and to form the Community Serb Municipalities.
- The Committee provides full support to the Serbian people and the political representatives of the Serbian people - the Serb List in Kosovo-Metohija to fight for their human rights and a safe life and survival in a peaceful and democratic way.
- The Committee supports the continuation of the constructive approach of Belgrade, which fulfils its obligations from the Dialogue and which is clearly committed to the path of normalisation of relations.
- The Committee welcomes and fully supports the package of legal and social-economic measures adopted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia at the initiative of the President of the Republic in order to protect the rights of Serbs and vital state and national interests on the territory of the AP Kosovo-Metohija. In this sense, it expresses the special expectation that the special prosecutor's office that will be established in the application of the above measures will maximally effectively process all the initiators, instigators, helpers and perpetrators of crimes committed against the citizens of the Republic of Serbia on the territory of AP Kosovo-Metohija by the regime in Pristina, led by Albin Kurti.
- The Committee fully supports our negotiating team.
- The Committee condemns the unilateral moves of the Pristina authorities, which represent an obvious attack on the Dialogue and for which Pristina has not suffered any consequences from the international community so far.
