The Chairman of the Board of the Network of Parliamentary Committees on Economy, Finance and European Integration of Western Balkans Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic and the Head of the Western Balkans Programme of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy which supports the work of the regional network, Emil Atanasovski explained why the Network was established, its goals and activities realised so far.
The regional Network was set up in 2009 with the aim to improve parliamentary oversight processes in the Western Balkan parliaments, strengthen regional parliamentary cooperation, share best practices from the region and create a sustainable parliamentary network that would tackle economic development issues. The Network comprises 25 committees from 8 Western Balkan parliaments.
Presenting the Network’s activities, Marinkovic and Atanasovski spoke of the regional parliamentary conferences held so far, as well as several bilateral and multilateral conferences and meetings, also informing the participants of the activities the Network is planning for the upcoming period.
The presentation of the regional Network’s activities was attended by the members of the National Assembly’s Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending, Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy and the European Integration Committee.
