PFG with Slovakia Meets with Slovak Ambassador to Serbia

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Slovakia Nikola Radosavljevic and PFG members met today in the National Assembly House with Slovak Ambassador to Serbia Fedor Rosocha to discuss improving parliamentary and economic cooperation.


PFG Head Nikola Radosavljevic declared the bilateral relations very good, close and friendly, characterised by the desire for increased cooperation across the board.

He especially thanked Slovakia for its continued support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, hoping that Slovakia's leadership would remain consistent in that position.

Radosavljevic pointed out that Serbia highly values Slovakia’s support on its path to equal membership in the EU.

Speaking of interparliamentary cooperation, he expressed hope that it would be more intense in the current National Assembly legislature, adding that the PFG with Slovakia consists of 32 MPs.

"The Slovak national minority in Serbia, as well as the Serbian national minority in Slovakia, greatly contribute to the relations between the two countries," said the Head of the PFG with Slovakia.

He also spoke of the well-developed economic cooperation, adding that in 2022 the trade with Slovakia reached a record 1.1 billion euros. He stressed that there is room to improve cooperation in the areas of production of transport vehicles, energy, food industry, infrastructure, digitalisation, IT sector, automobile industry, etc.

Slovak Ambassador Fedor Rosocha first expressed condolences on behalf of himself and the people of Slovakia on the tragic events that took place last week in the Belgrade Elementary School "Vladislav Ribnikar" and in the vicinity of Mladenovac.

He agreed with the Head of the PFG with Slovakia that bilateral relations are very good and that there are no open issues. The Ambassador underlined Bratislava's clear position of non-recognition of so-called Kosovo, rooted in respect for international law.

He informed the PFG members of the political situation in his country, saying that Slovakia now has a technical Government, which will remain in power until the parliamentary elections in September. After that, the Ambassador said he would initiate visits at the parliamentary level.

He opined that cooperation in the field of economy is very important, with a rising tendency in terms of commodity exchange.

The Ambassador took the opportunity to remind his hosts that an intergovernmental commission for the support of economic cooperation will meet in Belgrade in the fall, which will enable Slovak companies to find their interest in the Serbian market, adding that Slovak companies follow the economic development of Serbia. He agreed that mutual visits of high-ranking officials and parliamentarians could greatly contribute to overall parliamentary cooperation.

In the conversation that followed, PFG members Zivan Bajic, Stasa Stojanovic, Jelena Milivojevic, Rozalia Okresz and Radmila Vasic jointly stated that they highly value Slovakia's principled position regarding the territorial our country’s sovereignty and integrity and informed the Ambassador about the difficult situation faced by our citizens in Kosovo-Metohija.

They also thanked Slovakia for supporting Serbia on its European path. They informed the Ambassador about the possibilities for cooperation in various fields, such as the production of milk and dairy products, the automotive industry, as well as cooperation in the field of tourism.
