PFG with China Visits Smederevo City Administration and HBIS SERBIA

The members of the PFG with China visited Smederevo today where they first met with representatives of Smederevo City Administration, and then visited the company of HBIS SERBIA, accompanied by Chinese Ambassador Chen Bo.


In Smederevo City Administration, over 40 members of the PFG with China were greeted by the Mayor of Smederevo Jovan Bec, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo and PFG Head Marina Ragus.

Welcoming the members of the PFG with China, Mayor Bec, while emphasised, among other things, the importance of the ironworks in Smederevo for the development of the city, especially since the arrival of HBIS SERBIA, which relaunched the ironworks, as well as influenced the development of the industrial zone of the city, reduction of unemployment in Smederevo and impacted the city’s economic empowerment. Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo pointed out that Smederevo is a symbol of the Serbia-China steel friendship, while the Head of the PFG with China Marina Ragus stressed that the PFG with China has its own road map, one that includes visits to all Chinese investments in Serbia. She also referred to the steel friendship between Serbia and China, which has resulted in investments such as the HBIS company's investment in the ironworks in Smederevo.

After the visit to the City Administration, the members of the GFG with China visited the HBIS SERBIA, i.e. the Smederevo ironworks, facilities and got acquainted with the new agglo line, introduced in the factory last year, which the Director of HBIS SERBIA Song Sihai told them about.

The agglo line has a modern electrofilter and a desulfurization installations on the main technological line, as well as five systems with bag filters for purification at all transfer points. The emissions of the New Agglo Line are as much as five times lower than those allowed in the EU, and it is especially characterised by the use of blast furnace gas, which indicates that the plant is efficient, economical and, most importantly, has a positive impact on the environment. Ljubica Drake, General Manager of Environmental Protection, Milovan Tasic, General Manager of Engineering and Investments, and Milorad Minic, General Manager of Primary Production, presented the company's projects for the improvement of environmental protection to the members of the PFG with China.

In addition to the company representatives, Marina Ragus, Head of the PFG with China, and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo, also spoke about the importance of introducing new technologies aimed at environmental protection, the importance of improving relations between Serbia and China, as well as new green investments and the overall bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
