Welcoming the participants, Dr Orlic emphasised the importance of the regional character of the conference, which is an excellent opportunity for representatives of student dormitories, in cooperation with state institutions, to share experiences, adopt good practice examples, analyse problems and challenges, and improve the functioning of dormitories, primarily for the benefit of the resident high-school and university students.

Listing results achieved in Serbia in providing the best possible conditions for students' residences, Dr Orlic stressed that: "The almost 30 million euros invested in the construction and renovation of dormitories is just one of a series of steps we have taken in order to make the path to success easier for students and set a firm groundwork for the further progress of the state and its future." One of Serbia's strategic goals, he added, will remain the realisation of public investments in educational infrastructure projects, as well as the overall improvement of education, to which the National Assembly contributes by adopting numerous laws that guarantee the quality of our education system. "Everything we have done is the result of a responsible state policy, a policy that is our vital commitment and which we will continue to implement in the coming years. Besides the results, what is also important the values we are building. You have heard that message many times, first of all from the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, who always stresses that investing in education is the most important investment in the future. You can hear and will hear the same, both from us in the National Assembly, people in the Government and from other representatives of the state. This is our policy and the value we are building," concluded the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
