Noting that the National Assembly and NDI had enjoyed successful cooperation since 2009, National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic and NDI Programme Director Tom Kelly signed the Memorandum in order to continue said cooperation, define the duties and expectations, as well as raise the number and quality of joint activities.
NDI and the National Assembly agreed to focus their cooperation on the following planned and potential activities, dependent on available funds: transparency of the Parliament’s work, public hearings, parliamentary publications, public outreach project, trainings for MPs and assembly services, strengthening the coordination between the executive and legislative power, development of assembly services, monitoring of the Government’s work, communication strategy between the Government and Parliament and the National Assembly internship programme.
Having signed the Memorandum, Speaker Stefanovic and NDI Programme Director Tom Kelly agreed in the estimate that continued successful cooperation would be important for the strengthening of the Parliament’s role.
