National Assembly Speaker Meets with Students from Republic of Srpska

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic hosted a group of students from the Republic of Srpska in the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, currently visiting Belgrade, under the patronage of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.

Welcoming them, the National Assembly Speaker said that the Republic of Serbia is defined by the Constitution as the state of the Serbian people and all its citizens, which today, he emphasised, is more than mere words. "Since we have been implementing the state policy of the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic in Serbia, uniformly and at all levels, we have fundamentally taken care of all our citizens and our Serbian people wherever they may live. And the results of that policy are patently obvious," said Dr Orlic, adding that Serbia today supports numerous significant infrastructure projects in the Republic of Srpska, celebrates national holidays and important historical dates together with it, and that cooperation, through the Council headed by the presidents of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, has been raised to the highest level. He stressed that the two governments also take part in the work of the Council, with the support of two assemblies which have also recently formed a joint working body.

"We have done a lot together and such changes would not have been possible if Serbia itself had not changed," said the Assembly Speaker listing the major projects that changed the image of Belgrade and Serbia, such as the opening of "Prokop" railway station, Belgrade Waterfront, the monument to Stefan Nemanja, the finally completed St. Sava Temple, construction of highways, clinical centres, science parks, research institutes. "Everything we have done - it belongs to you too, so that tomorrow you, young, hard-working, capable and successful people, can take care of it, to be the driving force not only for the cities and municipalities you come from and the entire Republic of Srpska, but also for our and yours - Republic of Serbia", concluded the National Assembly Speaker.
