Parliamentary delegations from almost 20 countries and international organisations participated in the conference held in the Milli Mejlis and exchanged views on the topic "The Constitution as the Cornerstone of Independence and Sovereignty of States in the Modern World". During the conference, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Jovan Janjic, addressed the audience and emphasised that the constitution is the starting point and crown in the organisation of the state, that is, the system of government within its borders. "The constitution proclaims independence and establishes the sovereignty of the state. It regulates issues of the organisation of government and the relationship between the government and the citizens. In this world, everything that exists is in the service of man. Therefore, it is necessary for the constitution to enable and guarantee that every person is the main factor and the basic value of society. If the constitution is in the service of man and the people to whom it belongs, then it is an expression of the will of the people, and as such, the crown of the sovereignty of the homecountry to which it belongs," Janjic said.

On the sidelines of the event, the delegation had bilateral meetings and established parliamentary contacts with the delegations of the countries participating in the conference.

During its visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the delegation of the National Assembly also participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at the grave of Heydar Aliyev as well as at the "Eternal Flame" monument in the Memorial Complex.
