Gojkovic Meets with Tunisian Foreign Minister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia Khemaies Jhinaoui, currently visiting Serbia. The officials agreed that the political relations between the two countries are traditionally friendly, with no open issues.

The Tunisian Foreign Minister spoke about the historical friendship between the two countries, dating back to the beginnings of the 20th century, and emphasized the importance of developing political and economic relations right now, as well as cooperation in the fields of tourism and investment.

Gojkovic highlighted the significance of today’s visit, stressing that there is considerable potential for parliamentary cooperation and hoping that the two countries’ heads of parliament would have the chance to meet in 2018.

The Serbian Assembly Speaker also mentioned the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments’ friendship groups, as well as committees and parliamentary delegations, stressing that the Serbian Parliament is ready to give its full contribution to the development of relations by ratifying signed agreements.

Gojkovic thanked Tunisia for its unwavering support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija, and Jhinaoui affirmed that Tunisia would not change its stance.
