Fourth Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee and Visit to Security Information Agency Directorate

At its fourth sitting, held on 1 August 2024 and closed to the public, at the Directorate of the Security Information Agency, the Security Services Control Committee considered and adopted, by majority vote, the Security Information Agency Activity Report and the Report on the security situation in the Republic of Serbia for the period 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024.


The reports cover all the most significant activities in the reporting period, which comprehensively reflect the work and enable a complete overview of the realised activities and tasks in the purview of the Security Information Agency. Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic positively assessed the professional conduct and work of the Security Information Agency and gave full support to the achievement of their priority tasks concerning the protection of order and security of the Republic of Serbia and its citizens.

Committee members and deputy members: MA Igor Becic, Vladan Zagradjanin, Jasmina Obradovic, Marinika Tepic, Aleksandar Ivanovic, Goran Rakic and Jasmina Karanac actively participated in the consideration of the report and in the discussion in which they had the opportunity to ask questions about current events, while Security Information Agency Director Dr Vladimir Orlic answered all the questions asked by the Committee members.

On the same day, the Committee completed a supervisory visit to the Security Information Agency.

In accordance with the powers prescribed by the Law on the Basis Regulating Security Services of the Republic of Serbia, during the supervisory visit, the members of the Committee's delegation, using random sampling principle, supervised the legality of the application of special measures in accordance with the Law on the Security Information Agency and the application of special evidentiary actions in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code. The members of the Committee's delegation established that in the supervised cases, the Security Information Agency acted in accordance with the procedures prescribed by law. The members of the Security Information Agency exhibited a constructive and open approach during the Committee members’ supervisory visit.

Current security events in the environment and in the world complicate the security situation and require an increased level of engagement of all the security services of the Republic of Serbia, therefore, in addition to supervising the legality of work during the visits, the Committee members paid special attention to assessing the state, technical equipment and talking with the members of the services in order to improve efficiency of their work.

The members of the Committee's delegation emphasised the importance of cooperation among all the actors in the security sector in strengthening security in the fight against terrorism, extremism and organised crime.

The Committee sitting was attended by: Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, Deputy Committee Chairman Vladan Zagradjanin, Jasmina Obradovic, Marinika Tepic, Tomislav Jankovic, Goran Rakic, Jasmina Karanac, Aleksandar Ivanovic, Dane Stanojcic and Darko Jovanovic.

The Committee delegation in the supervisory visit was headed by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic. Committee members and deputy members, MPs Jasmina Obradovic, Tomislav Jankovic, Goran Rakic, Jasmina Karanac, Aleksandar Ivanovic, Dane Stanojcic and Darko Jovanovic, participated in the work of the Committee's delegation supervisory visit.
