Forty-Fourth Sitting of the Industry Committee

At the sitting held on 16 September, the President of the Independent Union of Metal Workers of Serbia Zoran Vujovic informed the Industry Committee members on the restructuring taking place as part of the privatisation process in metal industry companies.


The sitting was attended by Assistant Minister of Economy and Regional Development Misela Nikolic, as well as representatives of 41 companies from the metal sector currently in the process of restructuring.

In the ensuing debate, after the Committee members have been informed on the situation, the union representatives listed the problems their companies face, exchanged opinions and suggested possible ways of addressing the problems of companies in restructuring. In the debate, they also pointed out the problem of the Law on Enforcement and Security coming into force.

At the proposal of the Committee Chairman Milorad Buha, a Working Group was formed comprising representatives of the Independent Union of Metal Workers of Serbia. The Working group members shall request a urgent reception at the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and Ministry of Economy and Regional Development so as to remove the ambiguities in the application of the provisions of the Privatisation Law and Law on Enforcement and Security. The Committee Chairman announced that the Committee would convene another sitting with the same topic after the Working Group has completed its task.
