The members of the European Integrations Committee held the fortieth sitting on 5 May 2011. The sitting was chaired by Laszlo Varga, Committee Chairman. The sitting was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Branislav Zec and associates and Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Mira Eric-Jovic.

The Committee considered, in principle, the Company Bill, submitted by the Government and the Bill on Protection of Financial Service Users, submitted by the National Bank of Serbia.

The Company Bill was elaborated by the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, stressing that the previous company law dates back to 2005 since when both the domestic and European Union legislation had gone through numerous changes. The Bill provides better solutions, simplifies practice and is harmonised with European Union directives.

The Bill on Protection of Financial Service Users was elaborated by the representative of the National Bank of Serbia. She pointed out that the Bill’s basic goal was to protect the consumer as a financial service user, as well as strengthen the citizens’ trust in the financial sector. Drafting the Bill, the National Bank of Serbia was guided by market needs as well as the need for harmonisation with European Union legislation.

Following a short discussion, the members of the European Integrations Committee adopted the Bills in principle by a majority of votes.

The Committee members considered and unanimously adopted the proposition made by Group 484 to organise a public hearing at the National Assembly on the draft version of the document: “Challenges of forced migration in Serbia – position of refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees and asylum seekers”.
