The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Dragoljub Micunovic talked today to the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman of the Russian Federation’s State Duma, Konstantin Kosacev. Dragoljub Micunovic deemed that the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Serbia and the European Union is an important event for Serbia because it enables a rapid economic development and protects the interests of the Republic of Serbia in Kosovo and Metohia. Konstantin Kosacev pointed out that the Russian Federation has nothing against Serbia’s approach to the European Union, adding that Russia is neutral in the current electoral process in Serbia. Both supported the Serbian Government’s intention to discuss the ratification of the Serbian-Russian energy agreement tomorrow, expressing hope that the new convocation of the National Assembly will discuss the agreement soon after its constitution. It was also noted that the final solution of the status of Kosovo and Metohia should be sought within the frame-work of international law through political dialogue of the concerned parties.
