First Session of The First Regular Sitting of The National Assembly of The Republic of Serbia in 2003
The First Session of the First Regular Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2003 was convened by the Chairperson of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Natasa Micic, for Tuesday 18 March, beginning at 10 a.
The First Session of the First Regular Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2003 was convened by the Chairperson of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Natasa Micic, for Tuesday 18 March, beginning at 10 a.m. The following agenda was set for the session:
1. Election of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers of the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
2. Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Ordering of Courts, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
3. Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Seats and Areas of Jurisdiction of Courts and Public ProsecutorsÆ Offices, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
4. Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Organisation and Compentencies of State Bodies in Combating Organised Crime, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
5. Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on Judges, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia;
6. Proposals for the election, nomination, dismissal and termination of office of judicial officials.
Election of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers of the Government of the Republic of Serbia
The candidate for the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Zoran Zivkovic, expounded before the National Assembly his programme, and proposed the makeup of the Government.
Having concluded the debate, the National Assembly elected the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic, Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers then took the oath of office.
Changes to Judicial Legislation
When the afternoon part of the session began, the Deputies were informed that Deputy Bojan Pajtic would from then on perform the duty of chairman of the DOS - Reform of Serbia DeputiesÆ Group.
When work resumed, the National Assembly began debate in principle on the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Ordering of Courts, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Seats and Areas of Jurisdiction of Courts and Public ProsecutorsÆ Offices, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Organisation and Compentencies of State Bodies in Combating Organised Crime, and the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on Judges.
At the beginning of the second day of work (19 March), the Minister of Justice, Vladan Batic, informed the National Assembly that the Government of the Republic of Serbia had withdrawn from parliamentary procedure the Bill Amending and the Act on the Seats and Areas of Jurisdiction of Courts and Public ProsecutorsÆ Offices.
Having concluded debate in principle on all the Bills from the agenda, the Deputies commenced to debate the particulars of, and amendments submitted to, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Ordering of Courts, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Organisation and Compentencies of State Bodies in Combating Organised Crime, and the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on Judges.
The National Assembly then went on to discuss proposals for the election, nomination, dismissal and termination of office of judicial officials.
During the afternoon part of the session, the National Assembly adopted as wholes the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Ordering of Courts, the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on the Organisation and Compentencies of State Bodies in Combating Organised Crime, and the Bill Amending and Modifying the Act on Judges.
By adopting the proposals for the election, nomination, dismissal and termination of office of judicial officials, the National Assembly concluded the First Session of its First Regular Sitting in 2003.
