Fifty-Second Sitting of the Committee on Health and the Family
On 13 September 2011, the Committee on Health and the Family held its fifty-second sitting.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Paja Momcilov and attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Perisa Simonovic, Assistant Ministers of Health Milica Vlasic Koturovic, Petar Bulat, Marija Jevtic and Slobodan Markovic and associates.
The Committee members considered the Information on the Ministry of Health Activities in the period April-June 2011, which was presented to the Committee by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Perisa Simonovic and Assistant Ministers of Health Milica Vlasic Koturovic and Petar Bulat. The representatives of the Ministry of Health stated that said period was characterised by exhaustive activities in the normative domain and intense international cooperation. Within its activities the Ministry also appointed a special anti-corruption officer. Vlasic Koturovic explained that the Ministry also cooperates with the anti-corruption coordination body and Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office, and has a health inspection able to draw attention to possible cases of corruption to the competent authorities. In the period April-June, according to the Ministry representatives, the National Assembly adopted the laws amending and modifying the health insurance law and health care, and the Ministry is currently preparing a draft law on the protection of persons with mental disorders. In the continuation, the Committee members debated drawing attention to the problems in the health care system and asked questions of the attending representatives of the Ministry of Health on the anti-corruption struggle in the health care system, creation of the Serbian Dentists’ Chamber, reconstruction of health care institutions in Serbia, as well as possible solutions to the issue of additional employment for doctors. Following the discussion, the Committee members adopted the Information on the Ministry of Health Activities in the period April-June 2011.
In the continuation, the Committee elected Dr Djura Mucenski, member of the Committee on Health and the Family, candidate for membership in the Commission for the Control of Enforcement of Criminal Sanction.
